The Dead Parent Society

...regretfully welcomes another member. I will pour my mom her ceremonial beer this weekend.

Many didn't know my grandpa, but he was awesome. He wasn't the loudest in the group, but he sure was hilarious. Smiles came easy. He was generous, kind and a little bit of a badass, I'm told. He wore massive sunglasses. I will miss him dearly.

  1. I did know your Grandpa and I agree with everthing you say...At the ripe old age of 12, your Grandparents tried to teach me how to water ski on Higgins Lake....He was so inspiring that I hung on with all my might...grant it, I was drug under water over and over and never saw the lake from above....your grandparents seemed proud anyway. He will be missed. Please know we will all be saying extra prayers for you and your Mom :)

  2. I'm sorry Lacy! I'll raise some mugs in your grandpa's honor this weekend. I'm here if you feel like chatting...or not. I get that too.

    Love you.

  4. Lacy,
I thought your grandfather was a really nice guy. As you mentioned, he laughed a lot and was fun to be around. That standard is a yardstick of its own and adds to all of our lives. My heart goes out to you and your family again. See you in Madison.

  5. I really hope your mom and family are doing okay, Lacy...I wish I could've swung the trip to Madison, as well, but sometimes travel logistics just kick my ass. My condolences to you and your/our family...

  8. Tony,
No laughing... I kept thinking Tiffany was leaving the note, and then my mind put it together. So ferry was the last thing on my mind. :) Mostly what I was thinking: "Our family kicks ass. Whether it's by helicopter, pontoon, or 20 hour car ride, you guys show up. And that's incredible.

  9. Wait, That was Erin who posted about the ferry.
See, this is what happens when you miss your dad, so you're awake at 4am. Either way, the sentiments are all still true. You're a good soul, Aunt Erin.

  10. Did you know that Nancy "loves her capitol". So we (Pat, Shannon Denise and Erin) spent saturday afternoon and evening downtown and had a wonderful time. At the end of the night we had to put the 2 babies (Erin and Shannon) in the back seat and make them go back to the hotel. It was a balmy evening in Madison that we won't forget.

Not to fear, Our 'kids" are half of the Hendrickson Clan and are matched step for step with their cousins across the water. Jeff gives the best hug, cause he's done this before and Michael and Josh were fun lovin guys who give a warm greeting and they all laugh easily.

Lacy, you are doubly blessed! PQ

  11. Love all the love on here. Thank you :) And thank you to the crew that crossed a Great Lake (or drove around it TQ-style) to show support. It really means the world to us.
