My Dad

Hello family.

I'm really missing my dad lately, and I'm haunted, wondering if he knew I loved him.

If anyone has any good stories about my dad, please post them for me to read. And the stories, don't even have to be happy ones.

Although, I've heard the one about how he got cancer. :)

So come on. Bring on your Brian stories or memories.

Hope everyone is enjoying the start of Fall. Seems like it may be a long winter.

I'd like to say to Uncle Tony, I love the Texan Love song CD you burned for me, filled with all that Bobby Bare songs. I cry when I listen to it, but they are happy tears. Bobby Bare was a constant soundtrack in our house on Cedar Island Road.

So thank you. :) Feel free to send more anytime. I'm still searching for the song, Cowboys and Daddies by Bobby Bare. Think it is out of print.

  2. Aunt Shannon told me that your dad always complimented her outfits and hair. "You're looking very chic, Shannon." I know how much he appreciated a nice outfit and a put-together look.

At John's wedding, Sadie arrived looking stylish (I am still trying to accept that she is the hip sister), and he said, "Sadie! You are looking good. Did you get your hair professionally done?" A small compliment is all it takes to make that god daughter glow.

During the reception, I noticed that your dad took special care to dance with my mom, Sadie and me, since we were missing the main man in our lives.

  3. Aww. That's a cool story. Thanks for telling me that Lacy. :) I will miss that. I always felt like I played a good trick, when I came over to my dad's and he'd tell me, he liked what I had on. I took one of his favorite Tommy Bahama shirts... the one we bought him, when he turned 60.

  5. Kelly,
I know it has to be really hard to have the best.. well, the slowest story teller not telling stories.
In the Condo in Florida he was with us for a week of vacation because he mistakenly came at the begining instead of the end of our vacations.. so to say the least it was a different " get away" from our busy life. as life would have it .. it was one of our best vacations ever. Randy got to really spend time with Brian. the last night, they were drinking jack and diet..( Brian had never had one before he said ) anyway they talked about how they had actually been together a life time and they really bonded at a deeper level. I was napping most of the day a releif from the sun. Joe called and said that I had to make sure that Brian was ready and packed for the trip to California to see Casey. " Make sure he has all of his stuff, meds, etc.. I said," I will pack him now joe so he won't be late tomorrow.... a long silence fell:
Erin ...I can hear Kitty Wells in the back ground.
I assured him, no, I have been sleeping.. he again said.." Erin make sure Brian doesn't miss the plane.. I assured him, I would handle it. I will make sure! They stayed up until 3am... Brian has a 8am flight to catch.. so it was close. He was all packed drugs and all.
As he was waking up, Randy came out of the kitchen and said to Brian.. " Brian how do you feel? Brian looked up and said "like a Fool"
he was great for one liners. I loved that!
